Tutorface Terms and Conditions

By using our services, you are automatically agreeing to our Terms and Conditions. These Terms and conditions have been created in simple bullet point form so it is easy to understand. However, if you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us

Lesson Fees

  • Lesson fees are fixed. The price plans can be found at www.tutorface.co.uk/pricing. Lessons will be charged at the price plan you choose.

Payment Information

  • Payment must be made in advance

  • Clients are not permitted to make private arrangements for tuition with tutors introduced by Tutorface. In the event that the tutor is asked of such a private arrangement or is introduced privately to other clients, the client is responsible for paying the commission that Tutorface has thus lost.

Termination of tuition

  • You are free to end the tuition whenever you like. If you’ve already booked and paid for lessons, you will not receive a refund for those lessons as you have already committed to them.

  • We would appreciate you giving us some notice in advance if you are thinking of terminating your lessons with us.

Lesson Cancellation

We understand that sometimes it is necessary to cancel a session. In such cases, please give as much notice as possible.

  • If you have given more than 24 hours’ notice, you will be able to reschedule with your tutor to another day.

  • If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, we may still charge the full session price and may not reschedule to another day or time.

  • If your tutor turns up to the session thinking there’s a lesson and you are not there or available, you will be charged the full session price.

  • In sensitive situations such as a death in the family, lessons will be saved for a later date.

When the tutor cannot make a lesson

  • If the tutor is unable to give a scheduled lesson, an alternative time will be mutually agreed upon.

 Lateness

  • Lessons will start at their scheduled time. If a student is late, the time will not be made up. Students should be ready to start their lesson at the allocated time.

  • Where lessons start after their scheduled time due to tutor lateness, the time will be made up.

  • Student lateness in excess of 15 minutes will result in a cancelled lesson. The lesson fees and travel charges (if applicable) may not be refunded, and there may not be a make-up lesson scheduled.

  • Tutor lateness in excess of 15 minutes will be communicated to you as soon as is reasonably practicable.

Lesson Requirements

  • Students should bring the following items to every lesson:

  • Writing pad

  • Folder

  • Necessary stationery

  • Anything else specified by your tutor

  • Please ensure that tuition can be conducted in a quiet atmosphere conducive to concentration on the tuition involved.

  • The provision of exercise books and textbooks are the responsibility of the client.

Code of Conduct

  • When tuition takes place in the client’s home, students, parents and other residents are requested to refrain from smoking inside the house for the duration of the lesson.

  • Where students are under 18, tuition will only take place where a responsible adult is in the house at all times. If a responsible adult is not home for the full duration of the lesson, the lesson will be terminated or will not start, but the full lesson fee will be payable.

  • A tutor cannot be held responsible for chaperoning minors, nor guarding a house and household effects while tutoring.

  • Where tutors are travelling to students, students and adult members of the household should be dressed in a modest manner.

  • Where tuition will take place at the clients’ home, space should be provided for tuition where the responsible adult can be accessible at all times.

  • Students and their parents are to refrain from using inappropriate, disrespectful or aggressive language and/or behaviour during, before or after lessons. Aggressive or threatening behaviour will result in immediate termination of the tuition agreement. Any fees paid for future lessons will be forfeited. The first offence will result in a verbal warning. The second offence will result in a written warning. The third offense will result in automatic withdrawal from lessons with the tutor. In this case, the payment schedule will revert for the case of termination without notice.

Client Satisfaction Policy

When a client has pre-paid for a course of tuition, and a client is not satisfied with a particular Tutor or if a Tutor must stop tuition mid-course due to unforeseeable circumstances, Tutorface will endeavour to find a replacement Tutor. If a replacement cannot be found of the level and subject required by the Client, then Tutorface will refund the balance of the course fees paid by the client representing the number of pre-paid sessions for which the client does not receive tuition.

Plagiarism

The client acknowledges that the tutor will not complete assignments or homework on their behalf to pass off as their own. Where assistance is provided for e.g. dissertations, theses and assignments, this must be appropriately acknowledged and referenced within the work. The client acknowledges that plagiarism is a serious academic offence which can result in qualifications being withdrawn.

Limitation of Liability

While the Tutor will endeavour to ensure the Student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and neither the Tutor, nor Tutorface can be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the Student. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the Tutor, nor Tutorface accept liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Tutor’s or Tutorface’s services or any errors or omissions in the content of the Tutor’s learning materials.

Contractual Relationship

Tutorface acts as agent of the tutor by providing introductions of tutors to clients and vice versa. It also collects fees from the client on behalf of the tutor together with its own fee in respect of its administration commission, which is included within the hourly rate quoted for a particular service and which is payable solely by the client.

Data Protection Act

Clients providing personal data to Tutorface are consenting to the use of that data by Tutorface for the purpose of effecting introductions to Tutors, for billing and fee collecting purposes and to enable Tutorface to contact the client and/or student from time to time. Where required for legitimate purposes in connection with Tutorface’s business and subject to suitable safeguards that data may be transferred to others.
